SIGO

Established on November 24, 1892, the Italian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics (SIGO Federation) is the oldest and most representative scientific society of Italian Gynecologists.
Since 1995 It has become a Federation composed by:

AOGOI- Associazione Ostetrici Ginecologi Ospedalieri Italiani;
AGUI-Associazione Ginecologi Universitari.

Since 2018 It has been enrolled in the list of scientific societies and technical-scientific associations of the Health Professions, also formalizing the entry among the federated companies: AGITE- Associazione Ginecologi Territoriali, reaching about 6000 members.

SIGO is the spokesperson for the promotion of studies in all the fields of Gynecology and Obstetrics, periodically organising congresses, symposia and conferences at national and international level, and training courses for professionals, in order to develop and improve the exchange of information.
To achieve this goal, It has adopted the policy of cooperation with other scientific societies and has worked towards an active and qualified Italian presence at an international level, promoting the achievement of a higher level of women’s health.

Staying in alignement with the international gynecological world, It organized internally the GISS (Gruppi di Interesse Scientifico Speciale), in order to acquire specific skills in every field, especially through the implementation of post-graduate training programs and the development of specific promotional campaigns in that field.
It uses Its own editorial activity with the Italian Journal of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, published in English and online and with a dynamic technical-scientific communication activity with particular attention to press releases and publications of the conference proceedings.

By promoting an annual national congress with the participation of around 2000 gynaecologists from all over Italy, the Italian Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics has over the years become an ethical, cultural and organizational reference point for all professionals in the field.
